p.1 #8 · 1D owners do you miss the 1.6x crop body?
I don't miss the crop factor since getting a 1D, a 1D2, and a 1Ds2 after using the 20D. That said, the 20D works great with the EF-S 10-22 for wide. For telephoto, I find the 1Ds2 is good because if I need to I can crop it after the fact and still end up with more pixels than the 20D with a 1.6X crop factor...

I will probably buy the 7D, even if I have both the 1Ds3 & 1D3

I will never own just a crop again, never. That said, I think I'd like the pixel density of a crop body with pro AF for birding and so I will most likely pick up a 7D and add it to my current bodies and see how it works out from Bosque in December to the spring birding season next year.

For weddings, no. I need as wide as I can get. Can't afford the 1ds, so i stay with my 1dmk2. You know what? Those measley 8 mp are doing a great job, and as long as I nail the exposure, the ISO isn't a problem.

Let me put it this way, I seriously doubt I'll be selling the 1DIII to buy a 7D!
+1
As good as the 7D looks there is no way I am giving up APS-H and going back to APS-C. Of course, a 7D might find its way into my bag as a backup...
Really, this just whets the appetite for the Mark IV. Based on the 7D specs I would expect the next 1 series to be 18 megapixel as well, with the various advantages the larger APS-H sensor offers regarding noise & DR. Since I have occasionally missed the "reach" (pixel density) of the APS-C cams since moving the 1DIII, an 18mp APS-H cam will be welcome, assuming of course that overall IQ remains up to the standards of the 1DIII.
