Hi, I have and old Minolta X700 with the 35-70 and 70-200 manual focusing lenses. Now my question: is there a digital DSLR on which these lesnses can be used?
I don't nined the AF part but the lightmetering whould be nice.
Or should I start from zero?

Start from zero. I'm not sure which lenses those are without you giving apertures.

They won't be able to mount on anything except for 4/3 with an adapter, and the price of the 2x crop factor.

If you start from scratch, what are you considering?

if you have the 35-70mm 3.5 cons. is a good lense

if the 70-210mm is the F4 straight.

Yes, Karma Police you are correct the lenses are Minolta MD the 35-70mm F3.5 and the 70-210mm F4.
I have changed to a Panasonic FZ5, the D70 of nikon was then out of my budget . Acceptable in good light conditions but otherwise.... It's not what I thought it was, at least not like the reviews I read about it.
Hotwire, if starting from scratch, canon 450d - 40d or nikon d90 with kitlenses to start with. The d90 being the most wanted .
I thought however to start with a body with my minolta lenses but I don't know if there is a body available I was thinking of a sony.

I think you'd probably not want to use the 35-70 in a cropped body, while the 70-210 might make a good telephoto lens in a cropped body.

If cost is your primary consideration may be they are not worth adapting, unless you have other reasons. The kit lenses nowadays which cost next to nothing are very decent and comes with image stabilisation.

I can recommend the Canon 18-55IS and 55-250IS as a two lenses kit. They are affordable, comes with image stabilisation and gives good image quality. Nikon have similar offerings but I have not used them. For body I had the 40D which is a great camera, but D90 looks very good too.

You can use the these lenses on a Sony body but you will have to find one of the Minolta 2x M/A Converter-S....this adapts the old MC/MD lenses to Minolta/Sony AF lenses....very nice very clean adaptation...so your 35-70 becomes a 70-140 and the 70-210 becomes a 140-420 lens with this little jem....the camera's don't meter but I have not seen this as an issue...Actually I have been purchasing a lot of older MC/MD lenses to add to my collection...

Minolta made two of them...
Converter-S for lenses smaller 300mm and smaller
Converter-L for lenses larger than 300mm

Hope this helps....also here is a picture of the converter...
