Got a set of the new Pocket Wizards, EU version and want to compare notes. I've one each, MiniTT1 and FlexTT5.
My main camera [for now] is the Canon 5D / Main flash 580EXII
I am pleased enough with them out of the box, however, I find they seem to misfire a bit too much, the remote flash only seems to fire its preflash with almost no illumination after what seems a random period. Turning off the unit seems to restore it to normal function for a while again.
Introducing another flash, a Nikon on a PlusII causes my 580EXII to lose the plot, either not firing at all or only firing its preflash. Again I've found the unit stays locked this way until it's switched off and on again. The PlusII is switched off and the remote will work normally then again. This experiment is repeatable.
Using two Canon flashes, one on the Mini set to Master and one on the remote Flex set to normal. Too often only one flash fires, it seems random so far, I've found nothing repeatable and occasions where both fire and expose as expected.
Hi Speed sync, at close flash to subject range is impressive *** very pleased with this function.
All the above is from my 5D ~ I've read some complaints about the 5D but was hoping that the issue was not going to effect the EU versions ~ this is a question actually?
Hi... don't have the EU versions, but I suggest you make sure to load the latest, greatest firmware. There have been a lot of fixes/corrections in the short time since these units have been introduced.
I'm not sure if the 580EX RF interference issue also affects the EU units, but I'd do some research into this. I only use 550EX model flashes as slaves.
