yes it does!
and I bet it is the reflection from the inner ring on the eos-site because this is high-gloss finish. It directs all side-light to the centre(that is why centre is worse). It even has no, how you call it, wrinkles machined in it; it is just straight metal. Will glue some felt on it tomorrow, and if this helps i'll glue some lighttrap material.
Let you know.
I will solve these problems; payed to much money for this poorly made adapter.

P.S. no light leaks whatsoever

I'll bet they never tested it when designing it...

Take a look at the area where the shift lines are. Mine appears to have been machined with a 'flat' spot that has visible area that can be seen through. I wonder if that might let any extraneous light in ??

not on my adapter; no false light; body cap; 1 second exposure in bright sunlight; nothing on all shift positions

Not on mine, either.

The problem must be due to internal reflections. Hmmm ......

I'm going to do a test with / without some thin black cloth inside. If the results are positive, then I'll get some of that light trap material.
BTW - it's available here: http://www.protostar.biz/flock.htm

I wonder if this stuff is really any better than just dense black cloth? Well, at least it's self-adhesive, so maybe worth the cost just for that convenience alone.

Hmmm. I'll have to check mine later today and see if I'm getting similar results with just a body cap on.

While I was looking for a solution to the reflections issue ... I removed the bracket & screw that is used for the shift mechanism.

Preliminary (camera LCD) shots seem better. It looks like the bracket (black rectangular) may have been reflecting light, as I noticed on some shots, a definite rectangular area of reduced contrast. The threaded rod that attaches to the bracket is silver (round) and seems to be a source for the specular light areas.

After removing the bracket / rod, it looks better (again LCD screen only). By removing the internal bracket / threaded rod, I left the knob on, so there are no light leaks. Also, I can still shift the lens by simply sliding the lens by hand. There seems to be enough friction that the lens (150 2.8 A) doesn't wander by itself, so no real loss there (actually can be shifted much quicker by hand vs. screw).

Will update after a few days of shooting with it this way.

For some reason, my lens is now coming off the adapter at various times for unknown reason despite it still being at the zero mark on the shift scale. Fortunately, in the four times it came off, it only fell to the ground once onto the grass from a short kneeling distance ... but that is once too many.

It escaped unscathed, but it looks like I'll be putting the shift bracket back in place. I suppose I'll try to cover it with flat black tape to reduce reflections.

Shift bracket re-installed with flat black cloth tape (electrical) to cover both the bracket & the rod. The problem returned, but at a MUCH reduced level. Good news, this confirms the source of the reflection being as suspected. Bad news, it is still a faulty design. I may try some of the flocking material mention in a prior thread to cover this area.

Just tested my modified adapter;
-0.37mm thinner so infinity no problem
-reduced size shift-knob so no hitting prism (5D) when rotating
-all internal edges/surfaces glued with 'lighttrap' material

I can now say; WOW!
Nice contrast; nice colour
Only tested unshifted with A150/2.8 at 2.8 and 8
stunning at 2.8
unbelievable at 8

Shift tests with all lenses will follow but can take some time....

So my conclusion is that this Russian shift adapted is crap. But you can make it a perfectly nice tool

I am no craftsman so I'm happy that I paid a premium for the Mirex. I also find tilt more usable than shift.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

will do some pictures when time
http://www.protostar.biz/flock.htm for lighttrap mat.

Yakim, is there any reflection internally with the Mirex. I've read that it has a bit of a reflection problem also (but not as bad).If so it'll kill the contrast of you nice lenses?
Would like to see some shifted/tilted pics?!? (please?)

Thanks for the link.

Anybody have any recommendations for a Mamiya to EOS adapter (non-shift) that has worked well for them?

The mirex is really nice but I do not need it; I have the canon 24mm TSE so I have some tilt. And for macro I have homemade tiltshift bellow with 3 Rodenstock apo-rodagon-N (50,80 and 105mm) But I must say ;its tempting....
Maybe I'll make one myself some day but then with independant tilt/shift and no internal reflection. I'am shure I can think of some contruction (although 18,5mm is not much space)
