I love the metallic look of this. Instead of the tradition oil in water, I shot water in oil. We all know that oil and water don't mix. I took advantage of that to round the otherwise flowing, shapeless water.

I still don't have my computer with PS back from the shop. So, I'm sqeezing everything I can out of some antique, rather primitive, software.

cardsunited... thanks for the comments. It was an interesting experiment to me. It took a while to figure out the right ratios of color, water and oil. It took longer to get a good image of it!

how did you make the shape did you use some kind of metal. Don't worry I am still in the stone age. Don't have Photoshop I found Paint.net quite excellent for my skills I love the composition and the image

nks12345- This is how it came out of the camera. I only cropped and brightened it a bit. The metallic texture is from the absolute smoothness of the water . when you put water into oil, I think the resulting rounding is stronger than when you put oil into water because of the shape of the molecules and the surface tension. I would guess that because water is such a small polar molecule, it rounds tighter and more like a sphere. Oil is a long complex molecule and tends to spread out more.

So, in short, the oil did all the work. I used food coloring in the water and added different colored drops to the oil.

I took lots of primary color shots and then mixed the whole plateful to get these colors and sizes.

Who says science and art don't mix?
