This was my first walk around with this combo, really trying to learn it for use on an upcomming trip. The G1 is a very nice camera, and required less getting used to than I expected.
The Lens, on the other hand, is a very "peculiar" piece of glass...In my opinion, a very capable lens for certain subjects and very unfitting to others. Overall, it has a distinct "glow" to it, much like the fast RF CANONS like the 50 1.2 serenar.

The first photo is of a parked car which, IMHO, makes for a good subject for this lens.

Next is a shot of a flower followed by the split channels of that single shot.
Here is the question to those using older fast glass: Do you also notice a distinct focus shift on the R,G,B channels or is this native to this lens? I don't remember other fast lenses I have used with such a pronounced effect.

I've seen distinct shifts in the blue channel from a Canon 50mm f1.5 LTM when shooting wider than f2. Blue channel shift is fairly common on truly old fast glass.

Interesting.. :-) Nowadays manufacturers usually make fast glass have their largest focal shift between the red and the green channel... Usually the difference is around 2% focus distance towards the camera in green and 2% away from the camera in red - compared to the luminance average.

The following example is a fast modern 85 wide open MTF20lp/mm graph of the R, G and B channels, and average in Black. The horizontal axis is the focus distance, the vertical axis is the MTF20lp/mm contrast - higher is better.

Best focus is as indicated... 4.92m for green, 5.14 for red. One channel is focused very roughly 2% past the channel luminance average, one is roughly 2% before the channel luminance average. In archaic measures, that's roughly one inch per yard.
This is wide open, stopped down to F/5.6 this difference is "masked" by the deeper DoF so that the effect cannot be seen in the focused plane, but the green/red fringes in edges can still be seen in far/near OOF contrasts...

The 55mm version of this lens is supposed to be better.
