Nice connection with the theme. The hay has been rounded up into rounded shapes.

Can you work the B&W conversion or do some dodging to bring out some of the shadow detail in the trees?

Love the context of the shot. These low-res entries often look better when the subjects are bigger in the frame. Maybe a crop focusing on a couple of bales removing the left side of the frame?!

Anyway I like the conversion.

I love the conversion definitely. Something makes me want to see the stacks closer up and maybe from a down-looking-up perspective. I also think the sky could use a bit of darkening/contrast to make those clouds pop. But this is really cool and I think a wonderful entry.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I really appreciate it. I need to thank Corndog and Namlak, they both offered feedback and advice regarding my first conversion of this entry. They both made some very helpful suggestions.

I did play around with the crop and havn't made any final decisons yet. If anyone wants to see it, it's on my flickr.

This works well in B&W, altho I'd still favor a closer crop.

Hi Brendan,

This is a lovely rural scene you have captured very well. I thought about a similar shot myself, but went another direction partly because I thought I could do no better than your shot. I don't know about a closer crop--maybe 20% or so off the left might help a bit, but still a very nice shot and composition.
