It's frustrating to think you didn't capture something appropriately, isn't it? I tried to capture the true sharpness of this blade, but this is as close as I could get. Can you imagine running your finger along the edge? DON'T. Bad idea.

Nice work! One way to capture sharpness w/o cutting something is through macro work. But a macro shot wouldn't look at good as this. Love the composition.

Wow, thanks for the comments all!

@Chad - I tried macro, but it seems like most of our experiences are at the normal magnifications, so the sharpness looked a little too abstract for my tastes. Maybe at greater than 2:1, the edge would start to look serrated.

@Yakim - it's related to a katana, but it's technically called a "tantō", which is a dagger.
