p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Upgrade from 16-35II to 24II

Those of you who had the chance to use the new 24LII, what do you think, is it a worthy upgrade from 16-35II?
I have the 16-35 but I love the bokeh I saw with the 24LII.
I am debating if I should buy the PWs I was planning to do or upgrade to 24LII.

Thoughts?

I have the older 16-35mm L. I wouldn't give that up for a 24L II. Even though the 24L II is my favorite lens... I guess depends on how you use. My favorite light set up is 16-35 / 24L / 50L.

I'd go with the 16-35L I / 24L II or the 16-35LII / 24L I. I wouldn't want only have one but if push came to shove... I'd keep the 24L.

It's not an upgrade, those lenses are very different. Looking at your profile I would not buy the 24mkII. At least not until I had a few more lenses first

Yep, not an upgrade. 24Lii & 35L can serve different purposes than the 16-35Lii.

I own both, and agree it is not an upgrade unless you shoot at 24mm most of the time. Comparing the two at 24mm shows the 24L II to have far superior sharpness, particularly on the edges on full frame. Oh, and the bokeh is of course much better as well, if you frequently shoot at very wide apertures.

I tried doing something very similar, I had a 24-70 and decided that I'd rather have the 24L (before the mkII existed) and while I was astounded at the quality of the lens, I found myself greatly missing the versatility of the 24-70. Not even a month went by and I sold the 24L and re-bought the 24-70 lol!

Personally, based off your kit listed I would buy those pocketwizards and a better 50mm. The nifty-fifty isn't so fitting for a 5DmkII.

I have the old 16-35L and after calibration it's been awesome for the 3 years I've had it. Not giving that one up

well the 24 II delivers a much better 24mm so it depends whether you ever shoot much below 24mm or not, where the 24mm does rather poorly

Is this really an upgrade?

I think they're totally different
