Be careful when you walk down a dark alley if you see this shadow approaching. You don't want to come across the fearsome Vestroia Bakuneon!

For those who don't know, this is a Bakugan character and these little creatures fold up into a ball about an inch in diameter. When they roll onto a metal card, a magnetic latch pops and the creature takes form. There are many of these little beasties and a whole game and TV series around them. My 7-year-old twins love them and have quite a collection. I like the clever engineering that allows them to transform.

Thanks for the compliments.

A desk lamp on it's side, a screwdriver bit extension, a cardboard box, and some books as strategic light blockers were involved. It was actually a lot of fun and an educational challenge to make it work with what was around the house along with trying to position everything right to get the shadow positioned and scaled right.

Some shots (but not this one) included putting the camera on 2-second delay and hitting it with a couple LED flashlights during the exposure! I was going for the warm ambient shadow with something like streetlights above. My second favorite shot of this used that element but it was a different pose that I didn't like as much.
