I like it Hanh, I was able to capture my first baby mallards a few days ago. I like that the ducklings are in front of the mother... normally they are trailing her.

Chad,
Thanks for the look. The babies just couldn't wait to get to the water that they ran ahead of their waddling mother. I think it was an instinctive reaction.

Terrific shot Hanh and Hi!
The pano crop works well here. Love the light on these.

Jon is away looking for food?

Dan

Hi Dan.
Thanks for the comment.
I was there just before sunset that's why the light was so yellow.

Hm I was surprised that you got the Jon & Kate reference.

Oh, this is precious. Usually the babies are following mommy. What a wonderful shot, kudos.

Well, Hello.
Your comment caused me to look at your web site -- a great looking site with wonderful images.
I also think the pano works very well.

Hi Noelle,
Us women always have a weak spot for baby animals huh?
I was really excited to have captured this moment. Thanks for looking.

Hanh,

sweet shot. Yes that one female has a lot of ducklings.

I love the Pano crop here - perfect decision.

Lil

Lil,
Thank you. In a situation like this, I wanted to go for the pano framing when I saw those ducklings running, but really did not have time for the multiple shots and stitch option. When I got home, I achieved the panorama effect by cropping off some of the top and bottom, leaving just the right width:height ratio.

Too cute! All those chicks look like they're in such a hurry to grow up!

Thanks Wing. I think those chicks either just hatched or maybe just 1 or 2 days old because the last time I was there (2 days earlier), I did not see them.

Nice crop Hanh, I like the lighting too. That's a lot of young ones, I never seen 11. On the east coast, we see more like 5 or 6 as there's lots of snapping turtles and foxes keeping them alert.

You have captured the rush to the water all right. The little ones look very anxious to get there.

Martin,
Thank you for welcoming me back! Very accurate observation. I like the way you see things.

Nice one, I really like this cHanh. The colors and crop are very nice. Low angle gives intimacy between the viewer and the subject . You now have "Jon & Kate +11", next project should be "Octo Mom"

Thank you eNhut.for the comment and the funny line.

Well hello Hanh Now that is what I call having all your duckling in a row Nice to hear and see from you again. Cute shot with a nice perspective, they look excited to get in for a swim! Color and details are very pleasing for me, thoughts on it would be to possibly level the angle on it as the duckling appear going downhill a bit and I would like to see more water and less at the top of the frame, those are my 'nits' they come for free, you can return them at anytime

Hi KarlA!
Long time no "talk", my friend. Thank you for dropping by for a visit. I'm not sure if the image is not level. In my experience, I've developed a rule of thumbs when it comes to leveling a photograph without using a bubble indicator. When in doubt about horizontal lines, use your vertical lines as a reference. I agree that the ground was not level, but the grass in the background served as my vertical level. You can also use telephone poles, building edges, or things that seem to be suspended by gravity (such as fruits, birdfeeders...) as your reference points, regardless of the horizontal surface.
As always, I appreciate your nits, KarlA.
