I've recently bought a 50 1.2L and wanted to see some of the best that other people have shot with this lens.

Please let's not turn this into a:

"why I hate the 50L 1.2"
"50L1.0 v.s. 50L 1.2"
"You should have got a 24L, 85L or 35L"
"It focus shifts"

I love mine too

it is a great lens, one should learn how to use it, but isn't it the same for all f1.2 lenses ;-)

it's the fastest 50 (well there is the f1.0 but it can't compare )

I have had and loved 35L since August last year. Two months ago I also got 50L and to my surprise it's even better. I haven't unmounted it since I got it (fortunately I have two 5Ds

), except to try it with macro tubes, which gave great results too. What a lens! Mine is sharp enough for me at all apertures. I shoot a lot at MFD and haven't noticed any shifting. It's my best lens, even better than 135L.

Have used the Canon 50 1.2L mounted on a Mark 111 with stunning results...love the combo and have experienced an enhanced comfort zone with this package.

Sorry, I should have said that for me it's better. The 135L is equally sharp (or maybe even ever so slightly sharper), but the 50L wins because the focal length is better for me. I intend to keep 135L though, because I love it too.

This thread needs more photos! I don't normally post any here because I'm too much of a beginner (Have had my DSLR less than a year. Yes I know, way better gear than skills, but it's much more fun to learn that way!

I've used the 1.2L in the past on a 1.6x body and came away extremely unimpressed. Now that I'm FF, that may be different. I use my 50 1.4 all the time. I absolutely love shooting wide open. I must have an unusual copy because mine is razor sharp wide open. As much as I love "L"s, I just can't justify the huge cost for a gain of 1/3 of a stop.

Thank you all very much!

Now when I have this wonderful 50mm I should sell 35L and 24/2.8 and get a 24L instead... Then I'll have 24L, 50L, 135L and 70-200/4IS. That should be pretty much perfect for what I like to shoot. Fortunately, since I got the 50L for such an incredible price (it's 3 years old and the guy who sold it had severe focus problems, but it turned out to work perfectly on my camera!) I can afford to get a 24L before selling the 35L. Maybe even keep all three if I find that they are getting used.

I use my 50 L more than my 35L or 85 L II.

The focal lens is a great all around lens. This is one of my most used lens. This lens is not only good in sharpness but color and contrast is best.

Love the 50L. Love the color and contrast. It's right up there with the 85L. Just got the 35L, but I've not had time to compare it with the 50L or 85L. Hope to acquire the 24L II soon. I'll be in prime heaven.
