No American online store carries it as yet and it is today the last day of the month. Any idea when it will start shipping?

I played with a copy at Palo Alto. Keeble and Shuchat, you may want to check if they ship their orders.

It is a few minutes drive for me to K & S. Didn't know they had a copy.

They had only a demo, nothing for sale. They had a sale event with a Canon rep who brought his. Who knows when the actual lenses will ship.

I got mine in Hong Kong 2 days ago. A great lens.

I posted some samples on DPReview.

Where abouts in Hong Kong - i.e. which store?

The real question for me is which lens to get the TS-E 17 or the 14L2. I was planning on getting the 14L2 next week but, now that the TS-E 17 is showing up soon I'm rethinking my descision. The 14L2 has a 1-stop advantage, AF, it's wider, and ironically now the cheaper option. The TS-E 17 has T/S capability and can be shifted and stitched to match the 14 for field of view. Hmmmm.... any input?

I got mine in a camera shop in Stanley St, Central, HK. I was fortunate to get it by walk-in, but the supply is still very short. I did walk through all camera shops in Mongkok in that morning, and all stock were reserved by someone already.

I have the 14 II also. 17 TS-E is slightly sharper than 14 II at the corners with less CA, but it is less wide, slower, heavier and more expensive.

It sounds that you seldom take architecture/interior pictures on top of landscape. If this is the case I would go for the 14 II. The larger size and the protruding front element make the 17 TS-E more difficult to carry around and use. It saves your effort in stitching too.

Ah k. How much did you end up paying, if you don't mind me asking? I live in Sydney, but fly back to HK often enough.

I called Adorama and was given to understand that these will be available around June 18. It is odd that Canon releases the lenses first in Austria, Canada etc rather than in its largest customer base, USA.

I got mine yesterday.

Maybe there was more preorders outside the US or it was easy to fill preorders elsewhere or Canon was doing a little PR by shipping elsewhere first or the talk of recession in the US may have had Canon decide to ship where people were preordering/buying. Only Canon knows why.

My guess is so Canon can build up the hype. You get the whole community talking about it and pretty soon everybody wants one whether they need it or not.

thanks for the images. Like the few others I've seen, they look good. I think that this will be an impressively sharp lens for Canon.
