I am selling this Minolta MC-Rokkor-PG 58mm f1.2 lens. This is the 1st generation of this legendary and popular lens with a very low serial number of 2001100. It's been fully serviced/lubed (so the focus ring is nice and smooth) and converted to a Canon/EOS mount by Jim Buchanan only a month ago. The AF-confirm chip is the latest programmable version. Re-programming instructions included. It's in excellent mechanical condition and the glass is absolutely clean with no dust, scratches or cleaning marks that I can see.
There is some slight yellowing on the lens which is quite normal with the 1st generation, as it uses rare earth elements and coated with magnesium fluoride. You can get rid of the yellowing with a UV lamp, but I wouldn't bother as it has little to no visible effect on the color quality. Jim also machined-down the retainer ring by 0.5mm so you can get focus (with a FF Canon) to between 15 and 30 feet, but not to infinity. But you can get infinity focus with a cropped sensor.
I am selling the Rokkor and keeping my Canon FL 55/1.2 mostly because the FL lens was a gift to me by a good friend and I cannot part with it. Besides, I get infinity focus with the Canon but not with the Rokkor on my 5D Mk II. In terms of smooth/creamy bokeh the Rokkor is definitely better than the Canon.
I am asking $455 (CONUS) for this lens, shipped USPS Priority Mail and PayPal'd. FYI the service and conversion of this lens cost me $150. Not easy to find a Rokkor that has already been converted and filed down. Comes with original Minolta front cap and Canon rear cap.
Here's a sample image (the 2nd image) shot wide-open ... and compared to the FL 55/1.2:
