Last fall My DSLR needed repair just as the foliage peaked. I pulled out my old Crown Graphic 4x5 that I had not used in at least 25 years, got a box of Velvia 100 and started to rediscover film. Wet scanned with an Epson v750.
CC welcomed, particularly on possible improvements to comp.

It's a shot that is very easy to appreciate - great colors, tight focus, and an excellent exposure.

For an awful lot of years before digital that was a format of camera I lusted after and only in the last couple of years have seen digital get to a point where I finally lost the urge. Shots like this one still leave me scratching my head wondering about what if.....

Thanks for sharing.

Hey Mike,

A nice looking shot. There was some very sweet light coming through there. As for the composition, it looks very nice, though I would consider cropping just a bit off of the top to lose that bright area. With it in, the eye gets drawn more towards the top of shot, but with it out, the eye wanders through and enjoys the water more.

One other thing I see on this is that the lower left corner is a bit soft, I wish the leaves there were in focus, but the overall look of this shot is so nice, it only slightly takes away from it.

Lovely scene. The light is great and I love all the detail.
I agree with Jim on the softness but otherwise really good.

Alichty,
I find that the large format is more approachable now with the scanner replacing the wet darkroom.

Jim,
Interesting what you said about the top. I have a version with a crop similar to your suggestion and could not decide which one to post. I'll have to play with it some more.

For the soft area. I need to learn how to apply the tilts that the camera has. I have the original Ektar 127mm f4.7 lens which is supposed to have a small image circle that limits the tilts. I should experiment to see what I can get away with. I have not yet decided to go nuts and start purchasing better lenses for it.
Thanks for the input.

Love the scene and all I can suggest is that hot sky at the top might be better toned down or cropped out, although it's only a minor region.

Hi Mike,
Wonderful shot Mike. Dunnfield Creek is one of the gems of the Delaware Water Gap... One of my favorite places. You captured it very well.

What Jim said.
Lovely scene, very nicely rendered. Agree about the bright area at the top.
Regardless, beautiful shot with wonderful light. Cool pov on the upper stream thru the notch.
