She was perhaps the most powerful sea-surface vessel of World War II. The prop driven fighter plane on her deck is a reminder of the changes in technology that affect war as well as almost everything else. If only we could end war as easily as we escalate our ability to wage it.
I'm thankful that we could count on all those who risked and gave their lives in WWII. Glad my father survived so that I could exist!
