Just to follow up that the Aputure arrived and it works fine.
The head positively engages the socket but has no locking mechanism. The manual references one, but it isn't there. Just said I'd mention it as it's come up in the thread.
All in all I'd recommend it. Good value and no surprises.
I ended up getting the Yongnuo one, but I haven't tested the timer/intervalometer features yet. The build quality is actually quite nice and the manual was easy to understand. Hopefully after further testing I can add a mini-review and perhaps some samples.
I'll lt you know. Mine should be here in a week. It's possible that I would have passed on it except I just got the Yongnou off-camera flash cord and it's very well made. The Yongnuo is under 50 bucks with shipping from Hong Kong.
You posted this comment in May. Would you recommend the Yongnuo remote shutter release (TC-C3)?

Ben,
I haven't used it extensively for time-lapse photos yet, but I definitely think it is an excellent remote and a good value. I've never used the Canon so I can't say if its better, but with similar specs, good build quality, and a fraction of the cost, I would recommend the 'generic'
