Yes, it is one of the many images that can fit the theme - a clever take. Politics is everywhere! A little too much head room, but I see that you were trying to give it context.

This works quite well, but I wonder would a square crop match the geometric shape of the octagon. The white balance seems better here - a redder red! Nice work.

The sign is ever so slightly at an angle. Unless I warped the image in photoshop or retook the shot... hmmm...

I like the second one better. The composition and colour contradictions are better IMHO.
