Even with good eyes threading a needle takes a lot of concentration, for me at least. Great shot, love the DOF.

It certainly took a lot of concentration and eyestrain to set up this photo, as I re-threaded that darn little needle many times!

Endre, this was taken with the Canon 180 f/3.5L macro lens plus a 500D closeup lens. The 180 is a remarkable lens, in spite of seldom being able to autofocus when I most wish for it to do so

Thank you, Rich. I do agree that the background is a bit, um, vibrant. I found myself short of hands to do what was needed, and left the needle in the little red-upholstered pincushion in which I found it, full of pins with the brightly colored and/or metalic heads that you see. Being a natural habitat for the subject, I decided to "stick" with it, and tried to work a grouping of the pins into a composition that I liked. I realize that it might not work for everyone.
