p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · BIG-IS Nikon F to EF adapter ?

Hello All,

This forum has really inspired me to try alternative gear. Thanks . . .

I bought 2 old Nikkor-s's [50 1.4 & 35 2.8] for my 5D and got a BIG-IS adapter. the photos seem good to me anyway have to stop down to f11 or 16. but I am experiencing a mild amount of CA on the left hand side and a bit less on the right of images taken with the Nikkor 35 f2.8. It is easily corrected in PS but I do notice a small amount of play from side to side of the lens.

It seems to be moving in the adapter rather than the adapter moving in the camera body.

Is this a problem? i suspect that movement in and out would be more critical.

Or is it a trait with the lens?

thanks in advance

I find all my big_is adapters have a little lateral play, I think the only ones without such play would be novoflex or cameraquest adapters which are manufactured with tighter tolerances.

More likely that anything the lens might have slight decentering. If you're only noticing the issue with one lens then it's most likely the lens.

Hi.
I would not think, decentering, of these older Nikkors, as the problem. Having owned many of them, and used them on many Nikon bodies-i suspect the modern adapters. I have the KAWA and fotodiox adapters and use my 28, 50 and 105 (AID lenses) on my 30D and D300. There is some movement in each. These lenses, are sharp perfect on my Nikon F. I just dont think those old lenses have decentering problems. Just my opinion , of course, having owned Nikon since 1959.
Cheers
Harry
