O-U-T-S-T-A-N-D-I-N-G!!! Absolutely stunning. May I ask if the glacier blue is indeed that vivid? You are 1 lucky person to be able to photograph this vast/desolate region. How cold was it??

Hey Dan,
All I can say about the iceberg blue is that it 'seemed' to my eye to be that vivid. It also, to most others', 'seemed' that vivid when we were out viewing them.
Why am I qualifiying this with 'seemed'? Well, we had an extensive discussion on board the ship about how to white balance these scenes. Grey cards did not work on the odd lighting conditions we experienced, making the scene look way over done.
Near as we can figure, the dynamic range of the environment - with the bright sunlight, massive amounts of snow and variable density (and ages) of ice, meant that some of the scene was outside our perceptual abilities - which is why the water often appeared to be cobalt black.
So the best suggestion was to try to balance the situation as well as possible by eye. And in a lot of cases, having to remove some saturation of the blue channel to make the images at least look a little more normal to anyone who wasn't there.
It's the strangest lighting conditions I've ever encountered, and here I'm trying my best to get it mostly what I recall seeing.
