Aj, how cruel you are... You came from San Diego to take this amazing photo in my backyard, while I had to be down in San Diego working that week... Seriously, it is beautiful, and thank you for sharing what I missed. I live in the desert and do a lot of local backpacking/hiking/photography here, give me a shout if you'd ever like some company. Peace,

Sweet catch, AJ! When was this taken? Had to be just a few days before I visited the park. The snow on the rocks was almost gone by that time.
Really fine exposure for the snow and the sky, and a beautiful image.
Barry
Thanks Barry. This was taken on the 21st, right after they opened the roads. By this time, almost all of the snow was off the trees, and a good portion of it had melted It was still an amazing sight though.

Awesome shot, AJ! You really nailed the exposure on this one.
Did you shoot this on a digital or was this a 617 shot?
Thanks! This was shot on the new 5d2. 617 is getting so expensive to scan

AJ, let me know when you have a GIGANTIC print of this...I'd love to see it next time I'm through SD. I bet it's incredible.
First I need a gigantic place to hang it, and a wallet to pay for it... Hey, when's you're gallery opening up

Wow, if this is just a teaser, I really can't imagine what the finale will look like!
Jason
Uh oh. I hope I didn't oversell the next shot! I'm actually having trouble processing it and having it look right. The color is not over the top or anything, but it's an unusual mix of clouds/light just off the ground.

I would suggest that you look at the left edge of the sky, it's a bit lighter in a couple of spots and that just kind of jumped out at me... maybe clone out those small lighter area?
Jim
Thanks Jim. I thought about doing that as well, as they jump out at me too. I didn't want to crop it off because I like the balance that little background tree provides, and I didn't clone it out because I wanted to see if anybody else noticed, and it will mostly be covered up by a mat anyways. Thanks for the input, much appreciated.

Thanks Chris. I'm sure it's painful to have missed this. I hope you got to take in some of that snow when you got back. It's always nice to have company; I'll let you know next time I'm out your way. Are you in Palm Springs or farther east?
