Another shot taken after the big storm. This was well before sunrise, which turned out to be a strange one. I thought this was about the peak of the colors, which was nice, but by no means spectacular. You can see that the little clouds never really lit up. Right after this I threw my gear in the car and raced over to Barker hoping to get some nice soft light. Well, on the way the sky went absolutely nuts. These big clouds that were sitting fairly low got blasted with color, and there was enough ambient light to make the whole scene just incredible. And I almost missed it all. I sprinted about a mile for my next shot, and barely got there in time. I'm still working on that shot, so this one, the one that almost cost me, will have to serve as a teaser. Any c/c would be appreciated.
I think the light and colour in this are fantastic - it has a subtlety that really appeals and while not overwhelming the other aspects of the image. Paul
Sweet catch, AJ! When was this taken? Had to be just a few days before I visited the park. The snow on the rocks was almost gone by that time.
Really fine exposure for the snow and the sky, and a beautiful image.
This is so beautiful! The soft colors of the sky balance well with the snow-covered ground. That "round" rock on the side of the cliff looks like a fossilized mill wheel.
Man, I hate that I missed that snow out in Joshua Tree! Ughhh!
I love this shot, it's wonderfully done. I would suggest that you look at the left edge of the sky, it's a bit lighter in a couple of spots and that just kind of jumped out at me... maybe clone out those small lighter area?
Beautifully done. The subtle colors in the sky are rather pleasing. I think I was there the weekend after the storm but my attempt was rather poor compared to this. I went back the following weekend to try to do better but the snow was practically gone.
Can't wait to see the main feature after this teaser!
