I want to like this shot, but something is "off" and I'm wondering if anyone can help.
It's basically a path cut through the woods, but it looks like it goes forever (esp. with a little haze/fog).
I'm wondering, though -- Are the foreground plants taking away from the image? I wanted to give the feeling of discovering this "hidden" place, but perhaps it's not working.
Luckily for me, I can easily return to reshoot this place.
Any C&C very welcome. This is a crop from a vertical shot actually. Also, would perhaps lying on the ground help the image? Bah, I wish I would have taken a few more of this (would save me the trip!)
I see what you're going for with the foreground plants, and I think that idea works. Although the ones on the left here seem a little soft, and so seem kind of out of place compared to the fine detail in the rest of the image. Not sure if lying down would help (worth a shot), but I wonder if it might be possible to use a wider angle to stretch out the distances a little?
I like the mood and view a lot, JL. I like all but the left side oof shrubs. Have you tried cropping that area out, leaving the attractive right side and gorgeous foggy path? You'd get something fairly square, but I like the look of the comp that way.
Or, since you can return, position yourself beside the left bush to eliminate it, and I would also like the path off center. Just a little $.02
