I think I like the second one better. Warmer, more detail. I wonder if a vertical shot here might allow some reflection of El Capitan with a long exposure. Anyway, just thinking out loud. Nicely done.

I think these are great. They both seem to be a little tilted to the left a little though. Maybe just me. I really like the water in both. I also like the red patina that you did with both. Very lovely.
Robert,
Let me take a swipe at it.
Like I and otthers have said, these images are very nice, perhaps stunning.
The mixture of warmth from El Cap & the snow flocked trees is perfect.
What I see in the second shot that I don't see in the first is a very slight tilt, CCW.
It is most apparent with the river on the left.
Having said that, it could just an optical illusion (or delusion in my case).
It could also be a bit of lens distortion, perhaps accentuated by camera angle to scene.
I know El Cap looks straight, relatively speaking, but if I compare El Cap's high-face in both, I see a difference. Maybe only 1-2 degrees.
I would just try a slight CW rotate on #2 and compare with the original.
OR NOT. It is your image and you were there!
Take care & Happy New Year!
Dan
Very nice shots. I love the reflections in these. In #1, when shooting that wide if you don't get Bridal Veil Falls in the shot, somehow it feels incomplete. #2 is very nice, but I do agree, it looks unlevel. Remember on shots like these, it doesn't matter one bit if the shot is totally level, what matters is what does it look like... appearance is reality, and #2 seems a bit unlevel...
Hi Nugeny,
Gorgeous shots...love the lighting and the reflection, fresh snow...simply beautiful...now to nit pick...they feel a slight lean to the left. Carolyn
