We rarely get much snow in my small corner of the Olympic Peninsula, but December has been an exception. I shot this on a rural road nearby. It is a working barn, and was almost black and white as shot. I did pump up the contrast and crop out some snow and clouds. Exceptional B&W. Exposure is perfect. I would not change anything.. By the way where was this taken. I grew up in the area and it seems a bit familiar.
I, too, think it has a near- I.R. look to it. I really like this as is, Tim, but agree with Martyn that another version with the crop suggested would be nice as well.
Additionally, I would add that it has an interesting dimension to it (3D?) in that if I study the lower left part of the barn against the background, it almost looks like a movie set. Not sure if that makes sense or not, bit I find it unique for this type of shot.

Thanks for the kind comments. I shoot a lot of IR, but the day was so dark, that I left it home. The shot was taken with my 5 D and 24-105. The barn was at least 100 yds away, and the land was posted so my options of working the composition were pretty limited. I would have loved to take some real different angles of it. The processing was with some tonal contrast, and software graduated ND filter. I pushed it in DCE's pseudo HDR program. I did struggle to remove a lot of noise from the shot after using this technique.
Tim this one is really inspiring since we have over a foot of snow on the ground here on Prince of Wales Island right now.
The forground, the barn, the woods, the fog, the two rows of mountains all combine to give this one great depth not to mention the fantastic subject matter. Thanks for sharing. Take care. Bob

This shot appeals to me in all ways.
It's impossible to tell what "level" is here, but it looks that way to me. The fact that much of the barn seems to be sagging to the right fits in with the concept of old barns.
