p.1 #1 · Resizing photos all at once???

Hey guys,
I need to scale down a large number of pictures- hundreds of them- for a digital photo frame I'm giving to my mom for Christmas. I have many pictures of our family that I'd like to pack on the card, but they're all far larger than the resolution of the frame.

Is there a way that I can resize them all without doing it one-at-a-time? Even uploading them to Photobucket would take a long time, as many of them are 8.2 Megapixel and I need to reduce them down to 480x234 pixels.

If there's a way to do it in one massive edit, I'd sure appreciate it!

What OS? Windows has a resizer you can download for XP (never used it on Vista). The only downside is it is limited on the resolution choices.

You can probably find a number of freeware programs out there as well.

Anyway doesn't the digital frame scale down the picture to fit in the screen?

I found a batch processing feature in Photoshop Elements- it's running now, and seems perfect for the task.

Yep, Dan, it sure does- but I can fit a lot more 200k photos on the SD card than 3MB photos, so I might as well pack it with as many as possible. I'd rather she have 5000 photos than 50, that's all.

Do you have Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom?

w/ Photoshop, just record an Action that downsizes the image to your specs (read the help contents).

w/ Lightroom, it's as simple as selecting all the files and hitting export, and setting the ending resolution.

Picasa (freeware from Google) also does this with export function.
