Does any one know of a photographic based charity wanting film cameras? I recall seeing posting requesting equipment to take to (where ever) to do some in country photographic classes or rural photojournalism classes.
I could give the stuff away at the freebie, nada, zip, nothing listing on the buy/sell forum, however I would like to see this stuff go to some deserving charitable organization.
Mark Pelletier was collecting film cameras at one point for a project in Malawi where he was both teaching photography and also equipping budding photographers with the means to go out and earn a living. He was accepting donations of film related equipment and had a US address to which items could be shipped. I believe that Mark has moved to Mozambique now so I'm not sure if he has continued with this good work.
I am a Web/Graphics Designer based in Nairobi Kenya. I recently established my own company to incorporate Film Production after years of "freelancing" the art as a hobby.
My objective is to go around primary and secondary schools and be able to educate the young folks in my country as a way of giving back to society and empowering them to make informed career choices. This I intend to do FREE OF COST and with the help of three of my friends who share an interest in Film Making.
We have recently approached the Kenyan Government for grants and concessions with regard to this venture and the necessary paperwork is being processed.
I am in possession of two SONY DCRHC52 Mini DV Camcorders, a pair of halogen lights and have access to a good speed computer for editing.
I have ben searching for people to donate equipment to this cause and when I found you on google, it was an answered prayer for me. I hope our cause is good enough to earn your donation. We would be more than happy to make you a part of our team to supervise the use of the equipment based on the information I have given you. I would also be glad to avail more information to you if you so requested.
