Hi all. I had a different idea, but ended up taking some shots of my daughter's guitar because of the pleasing (and rounded) edge shapes.
I used one light and a reflector (white foam core board). I played with the angle of the reflector till I got a reflection-shape that I liked. -- C&C always welcome.
Update: Changed to vertical.
Carrol, did you have the light above/right and the reflector below?
I like the rendering of the shape of the guitar, but I'm not sure about the bit of background texture that you lit. It does lend a sense of reality, as opposed to a floating guitar product shot, but somehow with the clean black along some of the edges I wonder if the neck would be more effective if you went to black in the lower right. Maybe it's best like this. With the strings horizontal it's not as dynamic as a diagonal composition, but there's flow inherent in the curves that you portrayed so well.

The guitar was shot vertically. (I've replaced the horizontal image with it's original vertical format... I do like this much better.)
I had the main light to the right - and the reflector to the left.
I left a bit of the background texture because I usually don't like "floating" objects.
Thanks very much for your input!

Excellent shot, Carrol! I really love this. The color and the movement generated by the shape and light are great! I'm glad you tilted it back the way it was supposed to be. I was going to suggest it, too.
