This shot and b&w processing is closer to what I envisioned when I shot the pie, so in spite of some very nice compliments
about my original color post, I'm changing my entry. Thanks for the feedback folks! http://classicalphotography.com/FM_forum/meringue3.jpg
A nice way to round out the feast.
And our bellies

I agree Jess! Well done and original.
Thanks Mike. I'd like to try to get some more drama out of it, but I did like the different kinds of rounding, from the tiny globules to the large curves.
And it sure did taste good, thanks to my cousin's talents.
Here's a more conventional view: http://classicalphotography.com/FM_forum/pie_slice1.jpg
Hi Jess!
The droplets look cool, and I like that you shot at a different angle than usual.
And though it's great technically speaking, overall it doesn't seem like a real strong image to me.
Respectfully,
Carrol

Thanks for being honest, Carrol. In spite of a lot of kind comments, I'm not all that happy with my result, and may play with other options before the assignment ends. I think I succeeded in making a pleasing composition, but I want more than that! (Wish I'd had a macro lens along that day! )
Good luck,
Dave
Thanks Dave. At the time, I wished that I had my macro lens along to get in closer to the droplets. With their color and transparency, they could have made a good image on their own. With the broader view, I think I'm happier with the black and white that emphasizes the curves of the meringue.
I liked the color and I like the B & W even more. I really nice entry.
Best wishes,
Steve S.
Steve, thanks for returning for a look. I'm often insecure about my artistic choices, so even though it ultimately has to be my decision, it's nice to find some agreement.
I like this Jess...the drops stand out more...of course the color is easy to imagine the taste..it looks so yummy. But this is a great one too!! Good Luck! Carolyn
