Totally fair comment. That's what I'm here for, to learn and get ideas. I'm sort of on the fence with this one myself. Perhaps the lighting wasn't dramatic enough. I tried bumping the contrast but things just seemed to wash out beyond a certain point.
Got thinking about this and decided to try a different approach. A lot darker this time. The biggest feature of the original image is the significant detail in the wood grain and peeling paint, which I just don't seem to be able to draw out to advantage.
