Having the shot taken this week is so limiting when it comes to pictures of Flynn! But this is a shot of Flynn crashed on the sofa after a good long hike in the woods on a cold winter afternoon.

This is a beautiful shot of a very active breed in repose! Usually I'm not a fan of the "blown out" background but gosh, it really works here. I'm not sure if the image is soft/OOF or that is some kind of Blur, but I'd like to see how the face/ear area would be in focus, with the rest of the image soft there like you have it ... maybe also a bit more of a dodge to those two shadowed tonails.
Overall this is really, really a wonderful shot, great feel. But I am trying to offer useful suggestions/possibilities too, as people seem to enjoy that here!
Thanks all. Actually the first picture I took with the D700 when it came out of the box. I agree DOF is a little too shallow, but I was playing with shallow DOF at the time. Probably shot at f4 or so would have been just right. Then again part of the reason I liked it was the over all softness, which is not a word usually used to describe him. I've never entered the weekly contest before, and i wanted to start so I rushed this one into use. Next time I'll have more time.
I may try and dodge those toe nails now that you mention it.
