Recently my parents' buddy (senior) is looking for a compact digital camera range between $100-$200. Any suggestions on which brand/model is capable? He is not looking for any additional features. Purely looking for image quality and probably easy to opperate.
They all have the same crappy sensors. Just pick them for the features you like. In that price range there isn't going to be much variance in picture quality at all.
Ive been very happy with a Canon Powershot for about 6 years before i got my 40D. I had a quick look at the Canon website, and there are a number of models in your friends price range, i would personally pick this one because it has a reasonable zoom which can be quite nice in a compact. For something smaller you would be looking at one of the Canon Digital Elph (SDxxx) cameras, where you sacrifice optical zoom for a more compact size.
I cant really comment on other brands as i have no experience with them.
