p.2 #1 · First jewelry shoot

Thanks for all the feedback, Gaz. Please show some setup and some shots from next week if you can. It'll be another few weeks before I can really take another stab at this, but I've started looking more critically at product images to see how they were done.

Hi Rodolfo,

No prob's, Hope I've helped. How are you getting on?

Here's a couple of pics, actually I was pretty busy and forgot to do the set up but remembered before I pulled the lot to pieces. I'll have a chance to do a few more latter. Prior to the DLites, I used speedlites in similar positions.
The black material is to flag me/hide behind.

the set up (set down) http://www.flickr.com/photos/29956235@N03/3109437183/

Before I got all fancy and used PWs, I used this set up to fire the speedlites and add slaves to difficult positions http://www.flickr.com/photos/29956235@N03/3110269464/

1/4 CTO attached with the Honl speed-strap. The set up is clean and fast to add gels, gobo, snoot, etc http://www.flickr.com/photos/29956235@N03/3110269444/

the snoot http://www.flickr.com/photos/29956235@N03/3110269428/

This is a compact umbrella/softbox/speedlite holder I made. The palstic stand that comes with the flash isn't up to continous use (plastic thread). So I use this with the magic arm to allow me to aim the speedlite wherever I want.

Not only strong and rigid but compact. I carry at least 2 with my kit at all times. http://www.flickr.com/photos/29956235@N03/3109437213/

For jewellery I use Canon F2.8 60mm macro. I aim for f16 with the DLites and around f8 to what ever I can get when only using speedlites - power v recycle v battery life. Yes, I like 100ISO.

Chat soon cheers Gaz
