Fascinating panorama, indeed. The composition with its lines is interesting. I agree on the contrast, I would suggest you do it locally though. Like the road (?) in the lower left where is pretty flat, and the sky.
Ha ha yeah I wish. I took this picture last spring break when my family and I were in connection to St. Thomas. I would have given anything to stay a couple more days... Puerto Rico is so photogenic.
Having grown up there I truly enjoyed seeing your shot. I've been there plenty and will go to do some photography next Summer.
I agree about contrast. The very white band of foamy waves crashing just loses too much texture and detail. Perhaps that can be resolved with some judicious burning in Photoshop. What is intriguing to me here is that the ocean toward the horizon provides the dark band, and the sky remains relatively light. With the cupola being so nice and bright, a darker sky would have made for intriguing contrast (but then again there is that lighter band of ocean).
I am intrigued by the angle. Cool. Thanks for sharing it!
I looked at your gear list. I'm guessing you took this at 18mm, Sean.
What I find most fascinating about the shot is the arched water on the horizon. I'm so used to seeing straight horizons. Nice to see this is not just straight, but arched as well. Very cool.
Good guess, but it is actually three shots stitched together @ 28mm. I was actually surprised that it stitched without gaps because it really was a grab shot.
