p.1 #1 · Benbo or Uni-loc Tripod

A while back a buddy of mine let me use his tripod... it was either a benbo or a uni-loc... you know, with the single knob to adjust the leg angle?

I *REALLY* liked it, but he's not sure which one it was...

I'm thinking of getting one... do any of you have them? Which one is better? (for weddings, portraits, etc, with a 1D series body and usually heavy L Lenses)

Can you get either one in Canada? Can you get a uni-loc anywhere outside of the UK?

I don't know about uni-loc, but Benbo is sold thru Paterson. and Paterson is sold thru Daymen dealers. Call your local Photography store (not big box). are you in western Canada?

I have a Uni-Loc and love it.

I much prefer it to my other Bogen/Manfrotto tripods.

That said...it is "unique" (well almost, as Benbo is almost identical).

It is a metal pod so heavier than the CF models so popular now.

Even the ball head works well.

I am very happy I got mine and consider it a great/cool/smart design and the workmanship is very good too.

Good luck with your decision.

there are several shops in Edmonton that are Daymen dealers. Maybe Blacks or McBains.
