p.1 #1 · D700 Help...........

Hi all, I need some advice please.

Got my D700 last week and love it......However, I noticed what looks like a huge piece of dirt on looking through the viewfinder.

On looking inside, it seems that the dirt is on the inside of the focusing screen.

Any ideas on how to get it out as it is really annoying the hell out of me. It is definately not on the mirror or the sensor or the side of the focusing screen inside the chamber.

Any ideas on how to banish this little piece of crud?

Many thanks

Taff

I think the focusing screen is removable. You can take it out, blow it off then pop it back in. I had to with my D3 for a similar issue. One word of warning - those screens can scratch if you just look at them the wrong way - be extremely careful not to touch the surface area - just the edges. The don't like finger grease either. Might want to use some darkroom type gloves just to be safe.

Usually there's a little latch just behind the lens mount at the top.
