I'm thinking of getting a G10 to carry when I'm too lazy to take my whole kit. I am wondering about shutter lag? The specs don't state how long it is.
For you folks who already have a G10 can you comment on the shutter lag?
Thanks.
Almost no shutter lag, at least none that I've noticed yet. Great camera. It exceeds my expectations in every way, and I am demanding. In comparison, I did not stick with a Panasonic LX3 because I thought it was too much of a compromise in image quality. The G10 does not compromise much on image quality, and while not as good as my 5D, has enough other attributes (small size, inconspicuous, inexpensive, very high quality; better than the LX3 at higher ISOs in my experience) that I expect to use the G10 for a couple of years anyways.
When everything is set and you wait for the moment: 0.105 seconds.
There is a shutter lag, and contrast focusing is still slower than phase focusing. But the G1 is a fantastic camera for manual focusing! The 0.105 seconds are from the imaging resource review here.

The G10 is the Canon P&S, not the Panny G1 (which is ironically much closer to the original Canon G series concept than the G7/9/10 are)
Thanks for your comments.
I am used to using a Canon 5D but want a small "pocket" camera for family travels. Just trying to think about all the things that I may not like before purchasing.
I think I will go ahead and get one...
