First attempts at trying to bottom light a piece of glass using a technique describe at diyphotography.net. It was called a floor-lit-table-top-studio-project. It's consists of a tall box, open end on top, with a piece of glass used as the top. A flash is placed inside the box pointing up as the bottom light source. A piece of black cloth is draped inside the back edge of the box. The project shows great examples, the setup is super simple. I need more practice, not to mention a bigger piece of glass, but it looks promising.
Thanks for looking.

Below is a link to the project, in case anyone wants to check it out. I hope it's OK to do this here. http://www.diyphotography.net/light-up-the-floor-a-floor-lit-table-top-studio-project
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the comments, it's not really complicated, my explanation isn't very clear. Check out the link below my image and you'll see how simple the setup is.

Your first attempt worked perfectly, Nick.
I guess it all depends on the subject’s shape. (yours with its exquisite details was just right for the project)
