I've read all the reviews (good, bad and ugly) about both these cameras; I've looked at images from both and read all the specs but simply can't make a decision! I've decided to reduce my photographic equipment to one small P&S for a while.
Thoughts:
GX200
-More megapixels (don't reaaly care)
-Better ergonomics
-Little longer on the telephoto end (72mm vs. 60mm on LX3)
-Optional electric viewfinder
-Time lapse ability
-Square mode
LX3
-Faster optics
-A little cheaper
-Shutter priority (GX200 only has aperture priority)
-Less noise at higher ISO
What are your thoughts? Anyone own/used both cameras?
Not much to say -- the Ricoh models have more natural controls if you're an SLR user. I don't know if it's true or not, but from what I hear the LX3 has better optics and ISO performance. I only had the LX2 and it wasn't any different than the GX100 when it came to those things. Actually worse at high ISO noise reduction.
I've been reviewing more sample images and I'm leaning pretty heavily toward the LX3. I like everything about the GX200 but the image quailty and low light ability of the LX3 may be too much to pass up.
Canon G10. Really. See Michael Reichman's review, and Thom Hogan's review. I have the G10, and previously had the LX3. The G10 is superior to the LX3 in everyway except weight, and having a 28mm vs. 24mm wide angle. The resolution difference is remarkable.
