p.1 #1 · 1Ds3 AF points all shifted?

I have an odd issue that appeared today on my 1Ds3. The AF points are all slightly shifted to the left. The center point for example is now slightly left of the center of the center circle marked on the screen. The entire array appears to be shifted left and is no longer centered in the AF point area marked on the screen.

The AF seems to work fine. It does not matter what lens is on the body, the AF point shift is consistent. I have never touched the screen.

This 1Ds3 had the viewfinder aligned by Canon back in May as it was slightly rotated. It has been fine since the repair until now.

Has anybody else seen this?

Thanks.

No, sounds interesting tho. What does it look like when you display AF points on the image? Could the screen be off center...you might want to look at it, it could be really simple to fix...maybe.

I had the same thing happen to my mkIII during a shoot. I was using center point only and the focus point just moved over to the left for no reason. I can't remember what I did exactly to fix it. I removed and reinserted the battery a couple of times. Changed to a different shooting mode and took a couple of shots. I played with selecting different autofocus points, etc. Anyway, at one point it was all working fine again, but I had to re-enter all my custom settings. It was weird, and it hasn't happend again since.

Are you talking about the displayed red box in the viewfinder, or the point on which the camera actually chooses to focus?

I had my vf aligned with my sensor horizon by Canon too. Currently my viewfinder shows a frame which is very slightly shifted upwards from the frame my sensor captures. Usually it matters not, but sometimes it's a real nuisance, i.e. when trying to frame very accurately. It's a tiny amount, but it matters. At some point I will take the camera back to Canon and ask them to fix it.

The screen is not loose, and yes I am talking about the red boxes displayed in the viewfinder.

Trying to decide if I want to send this to Irvine today. It seems to focus fine and it is the middle of fall color...
