I built a NAS box, out of 4 750GB hard drive, running in RAID 1 config. You cannot afford to lose your work or your clients work. Plus there's still DVD's afterwards and an online upload service for safe keeping.
I automatically back-up to an external HD when I import into Lightroom. When I work on some of these shots in Photoshop, I then put a group of them into a folder and back that up also, so I have the original raw file, and any finished shots backed-up. I'm on a Mac, and after I would import into LR, I would have iPhoto there, ready for me to import the same images into iPhoto. Don't ask why, but I would import all these images into iPhoto after LR. I finally came to my senses when I was running out of space on my computer. I realized it was ridiculous to have the iPhoto images clogging up my computer. I decided to delete the iPhoto files, but I did something very wrong, and deleted over 5000 images from my whole computer...to this day, I don't know what I did wrong. When I emptied the trash, and saw 5000 images going down the drain, I almost had a heart attack...until I realized I had almost everything backed up on my external HD. Now I'm so paranoid, I also copy all my folders onto a DVD. When I go on a vacation, I hide my external HD, and I'm going to burn a 2nd DVD of everything and put it in a separate location. Take it from me, back-up everything.
I've always been pretty much anal about backing up and probably somewhat overkill, but the peace of mind is worth it to me. I have a pretty good backup system that I've used for years and ( knock on wood ), I've never lost anything. I have current jobs backed up to two internal hard drives and at least 2 externals - then as these jobs get older I move them to a couple of other externals + everything is backed up to DVD or CD.
Of course, I've always worried that if we have a hurricane ( I live in Florida ) or a flood or fire - I would still be dead in the water. I went to my bank that handles my home and business and got a safety deposit box. I had always wanted to do that anyway, but had assumed it was quite expensive - just the opposite - $37 a year and that's a pretty darn large box that can hold at least 4 or 5 hard drives + all of my important papers and documents. I have the past 5 years work stored there, then every Friday morning - I plan to go get the current drive and put that weeks work on it and take it back Friday afternoon.

The way I read this, if Oosah decides to open a stock agency, they have your pictures to sell with no payment due to you.
