I agree - although looking at the titles in the books I think (despite the reasonable shutter times) I may have a bit of motion blur in that shot. Out of the frame, pawing my left shoulder was a 40 pound dog who really thought tug-or-war would be more fun than photography.
The foreground Christmas bag is really sharp on the mk2 shot: it's front-focussed.
Ricala, any chance you could compare the lenses again?
* Mirror lock up
* 10s timer release or remote release if you got it
* Tripod (no wind as well)
* ISO 100 (HTP off)
* WB set according to circumstances (not AWB)
* Wide Open for the "bookshelf" shot.
* f/8.0 for landscape
* focused 1/3rd of way into frame for landscape shot
* Live View Manual Focus @ 10X on the exact same spot. Be super precise.
* 2 Sets - 1 w/ camera metering for scene, one set with a fixed exposure. This may demonstrate if the newer f/1.4 is "brighter" or not to actually affect metering.
* "Faithful" (0, 0, 0, 0) JPG or RAW

How many folks are also interested in the 24LII because of its even shorter minimal focus distance? The MFD should open up new creativity.
It's the same MFD on the old and new lens. there have been about 20 posts about it but you are still saying different And I don't see what the link has to do with this new 24mkII lens

All I'm saying is that using an aperture of f/1.4 at MFD (whichever the lens, whichever the MFD) may lead the user to many missed shots due to incredibly narrow DoF. Am I better understood now?
As far as the 24LII, soon there will be a nice choice between that lens and the ZE21. If someone is primarily interested in "corners" the choice would seem to be the 21. If one is interested in wandering around at night and playing with DOF during the day it seems the 24L is the clear choice.
I am guessing the ZE 21 will also have better resolution compared to the 24L II and 14-24, which will make this lens a great landscape lens for the 5D II.
