Hi Norm,

I had never tried silhouettes before this assignment. When I first tried them, I had photos similar to the lighting in yours. There was more detail in the subject than there should have been. I did a re-shoot this evening aiming for mainly the outline of the subject. I hope this helps!

Take Care,
Chelle

Thanks Chelle, I know most make their photo's only show dark for silhouettes but not all of the photo has to be that way the houses are silouettes and the wind mill fins to me is silouetted , something Im trying to say is take a goose decoy sillouette it has all the detail and is still called a silouette it doesn't have to be all dark to be a sillouette. Thanks for your suggestion and stopping by,

Norm

Nice shot, Norm!
It's good the wind was still for you for the photo!
It would be interesting to see this shot at different times of day, too - like sunrise or sunset.
Good luck,
Carrol

Interesting shot of a very interesting subject, Norm. i tend to agree that your subject isn't sufficiently silhouetted to quite make the idea of the topic jump out. If you saw this shot without knowing the topic in advance , would the idea "Aha! A silhouette!." be your first thought? Personally, I'd recrop it so that just the blade of the windmill is shown - perhaps in landscape with a bit of sky left at the left. You'd have to play with it to see how close in you like it but I think that would make for a very interesting abstract and at the same time fulfill the topic a bit better. That's just my opinion -= so take it for what it's worth.

All best wishes,

Endre
