p.1 #1 · No rumors, just some flowers

I thought I'd try posting some images that have nothing to do with rumors or reviews.
I went down to the park again this morning and took these with my D2H and Siggy 150 macro.

It sure is hard to take these macro shots with little light and a breeze. I was using my new remote shutter release and MLU, seemed to do a fairly decent job if I fired them off quick enough when the breeze stopped.

And just in case you were thinking that the Siggy can only do flowers, here's a portrait to prove otherwise:

FirewireGuy, those are great pics, I especially like the B&W #2, an dthe last oone for the tones and detail. Very nice pics and that 150 is a great lens too.

Those first two? Phenominal!

And I'm right with you on the Siggy... definitely the pleasant surprise in my kit. I hoped it would be sharp, but it ended up being razor sharp, a great focal length on both FX and DX, and incredibly crazy versatile!

Man, I love the files of the D2H. Still my favorite camera of all time, not sure exactly why Perhaps it was my first pro body with Nikon.

I didn't think too much about the D2Hs (used one) after I got my hands on the D2H.

I am going to join Tuannie on praising the D2H. He had one for sale and we talked about it but I did not buy it. I guess I was disappointed on its noise performance, even when I have not tried the camera. Talking about reading what others have to say!
I finally made up my mind and bought the camera. When I held it in my hands for the first time I immediately knew I would keep it.
The files are small but those 4.1 megapixels are very competent. My enlargements are usually to 12x18 and all colors and details are there. If the file original pixels in its larger dimension are taken in NX to 3008 pixels now you have a 6 megapixels camera. Believe me, more than enough for the majority of applications and still colors and details are there. If you do not believe me just try it and tell me if you see any difference with other 6 megapixels cameras. By the way, the 4.1 megapixels accept big enlargements in case you do not want to go to the 3008 pixels.
Noise has not been a problem for me because I am not a high ISO shooter. I have shot 800 and 1600 files with great results IF I overexposed slightly. I have always been delighted with its skin colors and it never let me down when I used it for landscape photography.
Today, the D2H is the camera I use most. Those shots are simply outstanding.

Before buying the D2H, I came to the conclusion that 4MP would be enough, given that I had some great 12x10 prints from cropped files from the 6MP D70s. It is true, 4MP goes a long way, and so does 6, which makes me wonder what people need 12MP for. I mean people as in the amateur market, not professionally.

I've read about this a few times and always wondered what the advantage of shooting say at 1600 and overexposing 1/3 of a stop is compared to shooting at 1250 and exposing correctly.

Thanks for the kinds comments everyone. I do really like the D2H too. Sometimes it would be nice to have more MP and better high ISO performance but I still like the D2h. It definitely likes sunny weather better than overcast days, which can be a pain with the weather we get around here. Still, I'm not letting it go anytime soon.
