p.1 #1 · #309 The forbidden fruit

As the Wilhelm Tell's theme was already taken, I thought I'd give another tale a try. However, I fear I'm not a very good director...

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

My only criticism is the position of tree branches in relation to their faces, particularly the one directly "through" his head. The rim lighting is beautiful.

I also think Wilhelm (Guillaume, William) Tell is still available for a different interpretation, but I don't have a suitable actor available!

I think I still like the first one better (though I did find the earring a bit anochronistic for the theme).

Why did you choose such young looking models and what are their ages?

The theme is great, Adam and Eve, love it. I think your execution could be better. The tree is, I think, and apple tree, but I cannot see it. I would like to see the apples hanging on a branch, although your idea was immediately clear for me. Your kids are good models for this and portraying them naked is a good choice for this. Did they wear earrings in Paradise? Haha

Your second picture is less strong, I miss the fear in his eyes. I choose your first entry as my favorite.

Hi Yakim,

I like the concept a lot and it is worth shooting it again if you can get your kids to cooperate. The concerns that others raise with the limbs and ear ring are easy to fix with a new shot. I might make one other suggestion as well. When your daughter give the apple to your son it would be nice if there was a bite out of it. It is a great shot as is, but I think you can make it better and have another winner. Good luck this week,

Steve S.

Very nice idea, Yakim, although I have echo the same critiques of others. Were i doing it, I'd try for something more suggestive. A long time back, Robert McCullar - a frequent winner here at the WA who, sadly, no longer posts - did a shot that you might like to try a variant of:

Sometimes less is more. Anyway, as has been pointed out already, the lighting is lovely as are your kids.

All best wishes,

Endre

Much obliged for the constructive comments.

I was aware of the earring issue and the fact that her hair was tucked in a braid/plait (sp.?), which nobody seem to mind. After all, they didn't have them back then as well. However, the earring can't come off as it's her first and the braid/plait is necessary as when I tried to shoot without it, her hair hid her hair covered all her face.

It is not an apple tree. Just an ordinary tree in my neighborhood. Unfortunately, I have no access to apple trees.

I will try to shoot again but due to workload the chances of doing this is rather slim. If I would, I'd certainly take a bite before shooting and not afterwards.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.
