The iron fireman on top of the Honeoye Falls Village Offices building used to be carried in parades in the late 1800's. A contest started where one fire department sought to steal the coveted figure from another one, year after year. It was first owned by the St.Catherines fire department from Ontario Canada, but Rochester NY, Albion NY, and Avon NY fire departments have also had pocession at one time. In 1893 the Honeoye Falls fire department managed to steal it for themselves and no one has been able to take it since.
