I have been doing a lot of macro work recently and this shot I feel is the current best that I have managed to achieve so far. To get this I had to follow the butterfly as it flew from post to post - with me moving over some rubble to get to him each time - where upon he would then promptly move to the next post!
In the end I was aiming for a simply side on head shot - the low key effect was not intended but is a great boon - though I did have to boost blacks, alter contrast and some curves a little to get the full effect, which is a little hazy in full size -- where I have considered selectively editing the dark area to increase the blacks there and remove the light haze.
I would be very interested in peoples thoughts and ideas as to how I can improve upon this with my macro work. - Thank you.
