Yes, it's quite a bit smaller. Here is a review comparing the original 430 to the original 580. The size difference is virtually identical with the MK II versions.
Those are expired now and it also happened to include the Canon instant rebate at that time. So they basically stacked the discount. As far as coupon codes, you just gotta google search for them, they come up every so often. It's random. Tye "B&H coupons" or the like.
I saw someone with the 430EX II last weekend at a wedding. The only difference I saw was that the new 430EX II has the same external power connector the 580EX has; so it appears that it can use the CP-E3 battery pack, which would be great.
The thing it seems to be missing still is the white bounce card that the 580EX has.
