Just out of curiosity, I'm posting a poll to see Windows (PC) vs Mac owners. To keep it simple, I am excluding Unix, Linux, etc. You guys can go sit in the corner.
I bailed on PC's just over a year ago, now own 3 Mac's, and I've never looked back. I feel like a bonehead for not having made the change years sooner, although I'll admit that Mac's seem to have matured quite a bit in the past few years.

I have always used Windows but never again. It is just way too unstable and I am sick-n-tired of all the viruses and pc invasions you get with the OS.
If I ever get another PC it will be a Mac.
you do realize that as macs become more popular that they too will become targets (and slowly are too). and no there is no built in superimmunity there. at this point just not as fun to do for the darkside because the overall kill is small. stability wise any system is what you make of it. i can kill a mac as fast as a windows setup and proven it in a matter od seconds. the results are just the same.
the fact is is that at this point the most secure and stable is linux. the reason there is the same lack of caring for those who do what they do.
there is no security that is written that cannot be breached with a little thought and effort.

+1. Yes, you can do everything on a PC that you can on a Mac, but it is so much simpler and more elegant on a Mac! My only regret is not switching 10 years ago.
When I can run OSx on any PC hardware (legally) I will buy it. Until then it is cheaper hardware and Windows for me.
And all the people complaining about viruses and spyware... if my 9 and 11 year old children can work on a windows box without managing to infect it with spyware... so can you.

Ben, you didn't include a 'Both' option, which I would have selected.
The above is more true than 99.9% of the mac community/fashionistas realize. Apple's success will breed problems that it's never had to face before. It will be interesting to see how it responds.
As to the 'apple is more elegant/easier/better/simpler to use' argument... maybe it's because I actually know how to use wintel machines, but they're not really any more elegant/easier/better/simpler to use. If Microsoft included the drivers MILLIONS of peripherals it supports (as Apple does with the thousands that it supports), I'm sure this complaint would pretty much disappear. Of course that would be a lot of wasted HD space...and you could always figure out how to install the drivers you need :/

Since OSX is less mainstream, there are some definite advantages as far as there not being many viruses, etc written for it. You are correct that it will change at some point when the popularity increases. That's one of the reasons why I bought my current macs just before they went to the intel based processors ---- I wanted to sit in the sidelines and watch what happened before jumping into the intel based computers. That being said, the intel chips alone didn't lead to more issues. You never know though....
This poll has been pretty much what I figured --- more PC owners than Mac. However, the percentage of Mac owners is quite high since we are dealing with the creative field here, where macs are more popular.
I have started a second poll as well. It is a similar topic, though a fair amount different. My other post asks user preference based on their experiences with PC and Mac platforms.

Linux and various Unix (-like) OSs run on PCs. There's no need to equate "Windows" with "PC".

I'm very well aware of that. However, as I stated in the first post, I'm trying to limit this just to Windows based machines, and OSX based machines since those are the majority of the users. Adding in all the sub options for unix, linux, etc would overcomplicate the poll.
